Two Daily Show posts in a row is lame, but indulge me. Last night CBS News senior foreign correspondent (at 37!!), Lara Logan, was on discussing how little is reported on Iraq and Afghanistan.

As if to underscore her very point, I had never heard of her before in my life.

By the end of the interview I felt stupid, embarrassed and ashamed, while at the same time better off for having seen her - her affect on me is shared with beautiful women everywhere.

Iron Man is a good movie

I though the beginning was, even for comic-book-movie-standards, ridiculous (he builds an iron man suit in a cave while under surveillance?? They would have seen him!)

But once he busts out of Afghanistan the movie really takes off.

I also didn't remember Gwenyth Paltrow being so hot.

Question regarding Godfather II

This is a question regarding the attempted murder of Frankie Pentangeli (aka Frankie Five Angels, aka this guy).

Did Roth intend to "almost" kill Pentangeli in order to turn Pentangeli against the Correleones? On one hand this makes sense as 1) it's exactly how the movie unfolded and 2) why else would Danny Aiello say "Michael Correleone says hello" right before he tries to kill him?

On the other, the events aborting the hit seem awfully difficult to orchestrate (the cop wanders in, a gun fight ensues) and Aiello's line could have been because his character was told the hit was ordered by Michael when it was in fact ordered by Roth.

So, to simplify: did Roth intend to let Pentangeli live?
